Putin, Trump 'Regularly Talk' Over the Phone

Inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin

Putin's 16th call-in marathon, which lasted 4½ uninterrupted hours, provided a window into the president's mind-set - and a prime display of the stagecraft that the Kremlin deploys to boost Putin's image and promote his worldview to Russian households.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during his annual Q&A session on Thursday that all the "breakthrough" weapon systems he had announced in his address to the Federal Assembly would be timely manufactured and delivered to the troops.

The Russian president said he had warned in a speech in Munich in 2007 about a growing US sense of exceptionalism and the risk of it imposing its own rules on other countries. "When I am on vacation I see no need to hide behind the bushes, and there is nothing wrong with that", said Putin.

"Russia, of all countries, is not interested in it because North Korea is our neighbor", Putin said, according to a transcript of the interview published by the Russian presidency.

As Putin said, "the understanding of the fact that World War III might become the end of the current civilization" should keep the world powers from rash and risky actions on the global arena.

Putin did, however, say that the West was "making a big mistake", and that such sudden and arbitrary decisions are "counterproductive and damaging for those involved and for the global economy", which would eventually spoil the investment climate in the countries imposing them.

Putin also accused the USA of upsetting the strategic nuclear balance, and said nobody should take any hasty steps: "The understanding that a third world war could be the end of civilization should restrain us". It's because Russian Federation is regarded as a threat, because they perceive Russian Federation as a rival.

"If, as Britain claims, a military-grade agent was used against these people, they would've died in a matter of minutes or seconds".

What did he say about the Sergei Skripal debacle?

"They are temporary but we will keep them there while it is necessary and is required by our economic interests", he said. It's an open secret in Vienna that Mr. Kurz wants to lobby the European Union to loosen the sanctions, but he'll need the support of Germany and France. He called Washington's withdrawal from treaties on anti-ballistic missiles "an attempt to put an end to strategic parity", noting that Russian Federation is responding to USA actions with modern arms that will keep that parity intact. Putin mentioned seeing a German news headline declaring, "Donald Trump pushes Europe into Putin's arms".

Putin continued to deny any Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections with the intent of helping U.S. President Donald Trump win the vote. "If we combine it with an earlier joke about Russian Federation allegedly influencing U.S. elections, it all sounds pretty amusing", he said.

Lacking a Russian passport, Barakat said she can not bring into the country her husband and three children, who are still living in Syria and whom she has not seen in two years.

"First we allegedly influence the U.S. presidential election, and in exchange he gives us Europe as gift".
