White House adviser says Canada's Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back'

Trump to leave G7 summit early amid feud with Trudeau, Macron

Trudeau announced on Saturday that all G7 members had endorsed the joint communique; however, he noted that the USA tariffs are "insulting" and Canada "will not be pushed around".

However, the sentiment quickly changed after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his country would move forward with "retaliatory" tariffs, which he said are coming in direct response to new controversial tariffs Trump recently put in place.

The communique said the leaders of the United States, Canada, Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Japan agreed on the need for "free, fair, and mutually beneficial trade" and the importance of fighting protectionism.

The political community seemed stunned at the harsh language and attacks on Trudeau, whose country was blamed by Trump earlier this week for burning down the White House in 1812 (it was actually the British).

"Trudeau says that we are the problem with tariffs".

"The New York Times notes that in a press conference Saturday afternoon, ".Mr. Trudeau said the seven nations had reached broad agreements on a range of economic and foreign policy goals. Meantime, Trump was already looking ahead to his meeting with Kim Jong Un with a feeling of optimism.

Justin Trudeau and President Trump participate in the working session at the G7 summit on Friday. "Kim must not see American weakness", he said.

"I have made it very clear to the president that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do because Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau said. In response to USA duties, Canada has already issued its own tariff threats, which Trudeau said would go into effect on July 1.

Sunday a Democratic Representative from IL surprisingly sided with President Donald Trump in the White House's ongoing war of words over tariffs with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

A Trudeau spokesman, Cameron Ahmad, said Saturday night that Trudeau "said nothing he hasn't said before - both in public and in private conversations" with Mr. Trump.

"He held a press conference and he said the U.S.is insulting". The president responded on Twitter, while en route to Singapore calling Trudeau, "Very dishonest and weak".

Canada's foreign minister, Chrystia Freeland, said her country "does not conduct its diplomacy through ad hominem attacks". Tweeting en route to his next summit in Singapore, Trump said he had instructed USA officials "not to endorse the communique. We have a bad actor in ZTE.President (Donald Trump) did this as a personal favor to the president of China as a way of showing some good will". Trudeau told reporters that the statement was supported by every member, but Trump's Twitter message Saturday withdrew USA support for the communique.
