Six More Woman Accuse CBS CEO Les Moonves of Sexual Assault

CBS reaches deal with CEO Leslie Moonves amid new sexual harassment claims

On Sunday, CBS announced it had reached a settlement with Moonves, a 24-year veteran of the company, and that he and CBS will donate $20 million to organizations that support the #MeToo movement.

The terms of Moonves's exit were unclear, though it was reported that his severance will be withheld pending the results of an independent investigation.

Moonves for his part denies the allegations, according to Fox News.

"I am deeply saddened to be leaving the company", Moonves said.

"The best part of this journey has been working alongside the dedicated and talented people in this company", he said.

Many progressives were angered two years ago when, as some Americans feared the potential election of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, Moonves openly celebrated the positive effect Trump's campaign was having on his $2.5 billion network.

Kathy Griffin took aim at ousted CBS CEO Leslie Moonves and his wife, Julie Chen, in a revealing Twitter thread on Sunday evening. Much of Moonves' tenure at CBS has been marked by a power struggle with Redstone over her plan to merge CBS and Viacom.

Golden-Gottlieb, now a retired television executive, told The New Yorker that one afternoon in 1986, Moonves drove her to a secluded area and forcibly held her head to engage in oral sex. She claims that Moonves forced her to perform oral sex and greeted her in his office during a meeting without trousers and with an erection.

She continued: "I want to say that whatever times I've had of hardship over the past eight years, Julie has always been there for me".

In July, actress Ileanna Douglas told Farrow that Moonves had pinned her arms down and forcibly kissed her during a business meeting, and fired her after she refused to participate. She said Moonves forced her to perform oral sex on him. "My agents told me that Leslie wasn't going to consider any women for the spot". And I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women ...

"The appalling accusations in this article are untrue", Moonves said in a statement to The New Yorker. "Lawyers were said to be putting the finishing touches on the settlement on Sunday". He and the media company's board were already negotiating his exit.

Moonves, 68, who turned CBS from an aging radio and TV broadcaster into a provider of shows to digital platforms, was expected to reap an estimated $100 million in severance. But it is far from a solution.

The negotiations over Moonves' departure are said to revolve largely around the size of his severance payment. Mr. Ianniello, who joined the Company in 2005, has been COO of CBS since June 2013. He also ushered in the company's emphasis on streaming video with the launch of several direct-to-consumer platforms, including CBS All Access.

Ten months ago, Norah O'Donnell had the hard job of reporting on the ouster of her "CBS This Morning" co-host Charlie Rose because of sexual misconduct allegations.

Les Moonves is about to step down from his role at the head of CBS, according to a CNN report on Sunday afternoon.

"For me it's been another sleepless night thinking about this", O'Donnell said at the top of the morning show. "And women should not feel they have to carry secrets and burdens". "Now, after 7 more women have come out, the stories are so similar, the pattern is so similar, for me, he's not been convicted of any crime, but obviously the man has a problem".

"A man accused of rigorously reported allegations of harassment should not be rewarded with a golden parachute", said Time's Up, the group that sprung from last year's outpouring of workplace harassment claims.

Osbourne said, "Everybody here at CBS is nervous about their jobs", and added that she is particularly concerned about the crew. "It is systemic and it is pervasive in our culture".
