Two weeks of speculation about the tablet device from Apple has come to an end. Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs has unveiled the most fervidly anticipated Apple tablet device called iPad. This touch screen device was unmasked at an invitation-only media event in SanFransisco.
This newly 10 inch touch screen tablet is extraordinary. As per Steve Jobs, this device fills a spot between a Smartphone and a laptop. It is so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a Smartphone. Mr. Jobs stated, “We think iPad is going to be a very popular e-reader not just for bestsellers but for textbooks as well.”
iPad is Half-an-inch thick, weighs 1.5 pounds ,16GB to 64GB flash storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, A4 chip. The A4 chip is so power efficient that it helps iPad get up to 10 hours of battery life on a single charge.
The iPad has a virtual keyboard, like the iPhone, that appears onscreen. With iPad, navigating the web has never been easier or more intuitive. The most natural pointing device used is your finger. Scroll through a page just by flicking your finger up or down on the screen. Or pinch to zoom in or out on a photo.
The iPad is an all-around media device for browsing the Web, emailing, sharing photographs, watching video, listening to music and playing games. iPad works with all the most accepted email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL. iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share photos. You can sync them from your computer, download them from an email, or import them straight from your camera using the optional Apple Camera Connection Kit.
iPad is available in a “3G model with super fast data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps.3 So if you’re traveling or you happen to be somewhere without a Wi-Fi network, you can still get a fast connection for surfing the web, downloading email, or getting directions.”
iPad comes with a headphone jack and a built-in microphone. The powerful built-in speaker produces rich, full sound perfect for watching a movie or listening to music.
iPad will work with almost all of the apps designed for the iPhone. Just download them from the App Store.
The website of Apple reveals the following info about the iPad:
“iPad embodies Apple’s continuing environmental progress. It is designed with the following features to reduce environmental impact:
- Arsenic-free display glass
- BFR-free
- Mercury-free LCD display
- PVC-free
- Recyclable aluminum and glass enclosure”
iBooks and iBook Store :As expected, Apple also thought the iPad as an eBook full. Steve Jobs has also directly compared with the Kindle from Amazon explaining want to go further. The iPad loads a specific application called iBooks that allows playback entirely controlled with the fingers, close to the experience of a paper book. And to serve this application, an iBook Store of course! It should open its doors in the coming hours with titles from Penguin, Hachette, HarperCollins, Simon and Schuster MacMillan.
Its price varies from 499 to $ 699 for the WiFi versions and from 629 to $ 829 for the 3G version.
