Apple posts high revenue for third quarter

California based Apple Inc has come out with very encouraging sales figures for the company’s third quarter earnings. Revenue has been high due to the launch of the newest iPhone as well as the unique iPad tablet being introduced in this quarter. Sales figures have touched a record $15.7 billion as opposed to $9.73 billion for the same period last year. Along with this an unprecedented demand for the company’s Mac computers has contributed to the earnings.

Company CEO Steve Jobs was in an upbeat mood as he announced that Apple will be launching many unique new products in the later half of the year which will help it to stay far ahead in the race and ward off competition from companies like Google and HP.

With a 61% jump in revenue the net income in the third quarter rose by 78% which is a recored of sorts. Revenue from iPhone sales was around $5.33billion with a total of 8.4million units being sold. These figures mean that the smartphone retains it’s position of the top-selling product for the second quarter in a row for the company.

The iPad tablet sold around 3.27 million units making it a runaway hit with customers. After the results were announced Apple recorded a gian of 4.4% in the stock market, from $6.31 to $251.89 in Nasdaq.

The company hopes to keep on capitalizing on this gain and has forecasted that revenue will be about 18billion for the next three months ending Sept as compared to the 17 billion predicted by analysts. Apple who have been plagued with criticism reg some issues with the availability of iPad and antenna problems with the iPhone are working on rectifying these issues asap.
