Apple Tablet out in January?

As per a highly entrenched insider from the tech industry, Apple’s Tablet will be made public in January. Kai-fu Lee, an ex-Google and ex-Microsoft executive, revealed on his blog that Apple will be releasing its Tablet in a major product announcement scheduled on January 26, 2010.

What legitimizes Lee’s claims to a large extent is his past experiences at tech giants like Microsoft and Google. His last designation was that of the President of Google’s Greater China Operations, which ended in September 2009. Prior to this he had a seven-year stint with Microsoft. He was also the Vice President of Silicon Graphics from 1996 to 1998. As per Lee’s blog post the new product from Apple’s stable resembles an oversized iPhone, studded with iPhone-like touchscreen, virtual keyboard, 3D graphics, Internet Applications, Video Conferencing, e-book amongst others. He also went on to reveal the possible price of the product, which according to him would be somewhere below USD 1000.

However, rumor-mills are already churning out various monikers for the device like iSlate or iGuide. Similar kinds of devices have been present in the form of mini-tablets and the trend is fuelled by changing consumer preferences as well as advancements in hardware like, better touchscreen technology, featherweight operating systems, sound processing chips et. al.

The device is considered to redefine the way users stay connected to the internet and big names are already jumping into the bandwagon with such devices. Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Microsoft are already planning their own versions of the Tablet.
