Bangladesh is the second Muslim country to censor Facebook

Thousands of Bangladeshis appear to ask the government to ban the social networking site Facebook, After Pakistan; Bangladesh is the second Muslim country to block access to popular social networking site. The government accuses Facebook of hurting the religious sentiments of the majority Muslim country, disseminating such content. Censorship is supposed to be temporary.

The country Bangladesh is among the one million Facebook users in a population of 150 million.

The authorities have taken this decision after a Facebook page was invited users to submit their illustration of the prophet Muhammad. But in Islam, any drawing or representation of Muhammed is considered blasphemous.

The page in question, “Everybody Mohammed Draw Day (the day where everyone draws Muhammad), has been missing for more than a week. But other similar pages have been created.

On Friday, hundreds of thousands of demonstrators marched through the streets of Dhaka, the capital, asking the government to prevent access to networking site.
