Sridhar told that 20 corporate houses including FedEx, Wal-Mart, Staples, eBay and Google already are using Bloom Boxes.
The Bloom Energy Server is capable of produce 100 kilowatts (KW) of electricity from natural or biogas to power which we may use for large commercial operations.
The root idea of bloom energy production in domestic & commercial level was start from NASA Mars space program. Sridhar and his team were charged with building technology to sustain life on Mars using solar energy and water & produce fuel for transportation air for breath.
In Bloom energy server, each energy Server consists of thousands of Bloom’s fuel cells–flat, solid ceramic squares made from a common sand-like powder.
Bloom Energy Server is capable of producing 100 kilowatts of electricity, or enough to power 100 average-size homes or a small office building.
“There are probably another 100 companies that are working on something very similar,” said Jack Brouwer, associate director of the National Fuel Cell Research Center in Irvine.
Bloom Energy will open the door to distributed power as a smarter, or as a localized energy source.”
Sridhar said that he hopes that Bloom Boxes will become a common fixture in people’s backyards and basements before 2020.
Dan Olds, an analyst with The Gabriel Consulting Group said, “They cite a three-to-five-year payback on capital investment via energy cost savings, which is a great number.
