Facebook Pushes Google in US : Hitwise stats

It is a milestone in the history of Facebook. In the week of March 7 to 13, Facebook has for the first time, recorded a better hearing in the United States as Google, making it the most visited site, reports a study published in the Financial Times. Facebook has also doubled its number of members in one year, from 200 million to 400 million, according to this study.

The study conducted by the firm Hitwise said that the social network has more than tripled its attendance in one year in the United States, from just over 2% of site visits to 7.07% last month pointing March. Google has made little progress in one year, from just over 6% of visits to 7.03%. Together, they account for nearly 14% of all visits to the United States. Despite its ratings success, sales of Facebook, however, doubling from one year to another – estimated at between 600 million and 700 million in 2009, it could amount to 1.1 billion dollars or $ 2 billion – is far behind the 23.6 billion worth of Google, which launched Buzz in response to the success of Facebook. “The real value of Facebook and social networking is becoming clear to specialists,” said Augie Ray, an analyst at Forrester Research, quoted by the Financial Times.
