Garmin-Asus launches nuvifone A50 and M10 Phones : – Both the WinMo-running M10 and Android-powered A50 both leaked in January by Asustek’s president. The Garmin Asus Nuvifone A50 was officially announced today. The nuvifone M10 smartphone today that runs the Windows Mobile platform which Garmin-Asus say it ideal for business use.
Spec-wise, the A50 packs a 3.5-inch HVGA (that’s 480×320 pixels, presumably) capacitive touchscreen with custom, finger-friendly UI, 4GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, and accelerometer for the usual portrait to landscape mode flip.
Garmin will ship the smartphone with full navigation license including turn-by-turn voice guided navigation, pre-installed maps and digital compass. As the nuvifone A50 will run on Android it will have very tight integration with all Google service and thanks to Android Market its users will be have quick access to vast amounts of 3rd party software.
The A50 will be on display at the Garmin-Asus booth (Hall 8, #8B127) at Mobile World Congress, February 15-18, 2010 and we will be bring you live footage from there and probably a hands on video too.
Technical specs show that M10 is a a 3.5 inch WVGA screen can be found along with a 3D Task Manager. 512MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM are found in the device and 4GB of flash memory is used for storing files such as your pictures, music and any other data. Powering the phone is a 1500mAh battery which should be good for a number of hours of use. A soft keyboard can be used on screen providing full QWERTY access for writing messages. For connectivity the phone has HSDPA as well as Wi-Fi at 802.11b/g.
The Garmin-Asus nüvifone M10 is expected to be available through carriers and retail distribution channels in Asia and Europe beginning in the first half of 2010.
