The sports-based drink from Pepsi’s stable Gatorade recently confirmed the fact that it has ended its relationship with Tiger Woods as the brand ambassador for Gatorade. It’s the third major brand to drop Woods from its marketing campaigns in the past couple of months following months of allegations of extramarital scandal, which has played out in the public eye.
This all started after it was reported that golf pro Woods had been dating New York nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel followed by his road accident after which a slew of other women began to come forward, claiming to be Woods’ mistresses. At the outset, various Woods’ sponsors affirmed the fact that they would stick by their star athlete in his bad time.
But in December, Accenture and AT&T announced they were ending their relationship with Tiger Woods. Woods had signed a multi-year agreement with the telecom giant in February 2009, but terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. While Gatorade has agreed on the fact that the company will continue its association with Tiger Woods Association, Woods has recently said in a television speech that he requires more time before he could actually return to professional golf.
