Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs made a daring statement that Google’s ‘Don’t Be Evil’ mantra is bullshit. The reason? Google Nexus One entering the mobile market is seen as a threat to the iPhone.
Wired reporter John Abell spoke to sources on hand, who told him Steve said, we didn’t go into search. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake, Google wants to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them.
On the subject of Google, it appears that Mr. Jobs got on a bit of a rant. He wanted to make it clear to his employees that Google entering the cell phone market was a clear deceleration of war on the iPhone. It is a fight he has no intentions of backing away from, and he plans on releasing updates for the iPhone through out the year that Google can’t keep up with.
According to Wired, Jobs held a town hall meeting at Apple last week after unveiling the iPad and fielded questions on many different topics. However, he appears to have saved some of his most deep-seated humor for a company that is increasingly becoming a rival: Google.
About Adobe: They are lazy, Jobs says. They have all this potential to do interesting things but they just refuse to do it. They don’t do anything with the approaches that Apple is taking, like Carbon. Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy, he says. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not it’s because of Flash. No one will be using Flash, he says. The world is moving to HTML5.
