Three of the Google executives have been convicted by the Italian court. The court was hearing to a trial over a video showing a teenager with Down’s syndrome being bullied. The Google Italy employees were found guilty of breaking Italian law as they have allowed the video to be posted online. The video was posted on Google Video in 2006.
All three of them have sentenced for a six months of suspension by the judge Oscar Magi. This verdict is expected to endow with a lesion for all content providers around the globe.
Prosecutors argued that it is Google, who have broken the Italian privacy law. According to them, Google have not requisite the permission of all the parties involved, before allowing the video to go online.
But in defense, Google said that the video was posted with prior consent of the firm who posted it and was removed from the source as soon as it was brought to its attention. And such trial is a threat to the internet and its rising popularity. And above all it was almost impossible for the company to pre-screen all contents uploaded to You Tube.
