Google Inc released a phone early January which worked on Deutsche Telekom AG unit and AT &T’s slower and older network. To compete directly with Apple Inc.’s iPhone Google started selling a version of its Nexus One phone. This is a newer version and it was available for sale in the official website of Google on Tuesday. This phone is available only from Google at the price of 529$.
The newer version of the phone supports different frequencies that are generally used by AT&T for 3G. Basically AT&T is the carrier of iPhone. However, it also runs on the 3G network. In the new Nexus One version of Google, the involvement of AT&T is expected to be very less. Due to the minimal involvement of AT&T, the price to be paid by the buyers would be far more than the starting price of the iPhone which is subsidized by AT&T.
However, Google spokesman said that they have been sharing their plans as well as progress about the Nexus One for the last few weeks. They also claim to make a good progress on the operations like Verizon and Vodafone.
This has resulted in a collision between Apple and Google. Reports also suggest that Nexus One manufacturer HTC Corp was earlier sued by Apple on a patent issue.
