Google’s Support Disaster Relief in Haiti

Google has started support disaster relief in Haiti by donate $1 million for help.

Google is requesting to all of us that we donate some amount and that will help disaster victims rebuild their lives and their communities.

On this relief support we can pay to UNICEF, which has been the world’s leading international children’s organization, working in over 150 countries to address ongoing issues that affect children, such as clean water, education, and emergency response or donate to CARE, which is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake, a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake centered approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, struck at 16:53:09 local time (21:53:09 UTC) on Tuesday 12 January 2010. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 mi).

CNN reported that Officials fear more than 100,000 people have died.

Haiti’s ambassador to the United States, Raymond Joseph is calling for up to quadruple the amount of U.S. aid to his country, which now stands at about $300 million. He calls on the international community to help as well.

Haiti is a poor country, ranked 149th on the Human Development Index (of 182 countries). There is concern about the emergency services’ ability to cope with a major disaster, and the country is considered “economically vulnerable” by the Food and Agriculture Organization.
