Following the earthquake of Haiti tonight, many countries have decided to help. Basically, Haiti receives assistance of 28 million euros per year from the European Commission.
Now because of recent incident the European Commission has earmarked 3 million euros for emergency aid. If necessary, it can still increase its aid. With regard to France, the country will send two planes with humanitarian aid and rescue, one starts from Martinique and the other one of Marseille. In total there will be more than a hundred rescue workers and 25 policemen.
Wednesday, the Caribbean will send two new aircraft. The Red Cross intends to provide assistance to three million people. Germany will send about 1.5 million Euros as well as food. Spain has sent near about 150 tons of humanitarian emergency response to the agony of Haiti.
The United States planned to send a team of emergency. Venezuela has sent this morning a team of aid that includes rescue and vital resources. Canada stands ready to act, as necessary. Santo Domingo has planned a rescue plane to support victims of this natural disaster. The Inter American Development Bank (IDB) has allocated $ 200 000 dollars to help the victims. International aid began arriving in Haiti.
After the earthquake, Prime Minister of Haiti suggests a balance of 100,000. Rescuers from many countries are expected in Port-au-Prince. The World Bank will release 100 million dollars.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has set up a web page designed to help Haitians to reconnect with their families.
