iPads sold 2 million, but are more expensive in Europe

A few days are of discontent (not between Apple fans) the price policies from Cupertino, which are different between Europe and America and the iPad rates are down in U.S., despite this, Apple announced it had sold 2 million of tablet and end of the year aims to break through the ceiling of 5 million pieces. Analysts who have considered the final selling prices of the iPad, compared to the cost of hardware, Europe and Britain are the areas where the tablet from Apple costs more, with increases ranging from 20 to 25% compared to U.S. prices.

Apple has announced on Monday that it has sold two million iPads since its launch two months back. This announcement has come at the time of iPad’s release in Europe and other countries. This seems to be an amazing record followed by the previous record set by the Apple of selling one million iPads in just 28 days. The demand for the device has also increased to a all time high after its launch into nine more countries.

It seems that the only constrain in the sale of the device is the production cost, and the numbers would have been much more if apple could make them faster.

IPads units available in the European markets have been almost all sold out. The presence of the dummies of the ipad is only left behind in those stores to remind of the original iPads. People have excitedly awaited the release of these devices outside America and waited for more than twenty four hours for getting their own ipad.

The accessories along with the device itself remain in short supply everywhere.

The sales figure surprise because ipad is a new type of device and is outselling much more than the old, seasoned devices like the Mac. Many attribute this to the price of the iPads which is nearly half when compared to the price of Mac.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs has said “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of the iPad, and seem to love it as much as we do. We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone,”

The device had seen such a huge demand in the US that its launch in other countries was delayed by a month. Nine more countries will experience the ipad mania when it releases there in July and many more in the coming year.  Combined altogether, the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad reach 0.8 percent which would put Apple’s mobile platforms just behind Java ME and more than all the other operating systems.

The iPad undoubtedly branded as a huge success, creating a large market for the tablet. In this present scenario what remains to be seen is what Google and Palm come up with, in competition to the iPad.
