Israel lifted the ban on the Apple iPad on Sunday. Israel brings into its territory Apple iPads, two weeks after the customs began to confiscate the multimedia shelves for fear of interference with other wireless devices. Authorities had banned the import of the touch pad, release early April in the United States, saying it did not meet European standards for use of wireless frequencies, in force in Israel.
“Having completed a thorough technical review, the Israeli Minister of Communications Moshe Kakhlon allowed the import of the iPad in Israel,” said the Ministry of Communications in a statement.
The ministry said the crew took advice from its European counterparts, Apple and a laboratory study internationally. After extensive testing, she concluded that the device could be used safely in Israel.
“Accordingly, the import of one unit per person will be allowed as of Sunday, April 25,” the statement said.
