YouTube has been under attack of hackers that troubles users with a big number of fake pop-up messages and directs them to adult sites. The hackers are taking the newly discovered scripting flaw on the site causing a rumor of a virus on the site to spread like wild fire. The matter now has been taken up by Google in its hands to fix the problem that’s nagging one and all.
The problem persisted for about two hours yesterday causing the sites parent company, the search giant Google to finally step in and correct the flaw. The problem drew a large number of negative tweets majority with the opinion that the world’s largest video sharing site has been badly hit with a major virus. The worst in this episode came for the teen singing sensation Justin Beiber. However later in time the problem began to spread to other videos as per the reports coming in. the hackers did not cause an serious threat to the site but managed to upset the users pretty much many of whom were left fuming.
The security experts are heaving a sigh of relief however that the flaw was only exploited by a group with limited credentials because the flaw could have been exploited to make much major problems for the site under a malicious group. In its official response YouTube has accepted the scripting bug and assured the users that all possibilities of another attack have been thoroughly checked and all threats removed.
An spokesman for the site commented “We took swift action to fix a cross-site scripting vulnerability on youtube.com that was discovered several hours ago,”
Besides their also loomed the threat of the attack being in place to gain access to the victim’s Google account but all such rumors were refuted by the site’s spokesman.
In the YouTube incident, hackers used JavaScript code and HTML, both commonly used on web pages.
