A mixture of fear and amusement ushered at Mavericks when the surfing competition just ended without any causalities. It was a display of utter courage bravery, chivalry when people all over the countries to came over to compete. It was more of a game of entertainment.
This time expected to be the same, but to the surprise it was a miserable time for the onlookers as waves rose over 22 feet and washed away the bystanders who were relaxing on the beach. It was a moment which took by surprise who were watching the waves and at the next instant they were swept away. Whilst the waves tried to scare the people one man Chris Bertish took frolicked in gushing waves snatching away $50,000 from the other competitors. This Native of South Africa made his country proud as he held his cheque amount.
Incidents like waves knocking people off the barricades, spectator platforms shattered and scaffold holding speakers broadcasting the contest ripped, were frightening to witness but it was a sight of mixed emotion where people although were scared but didn’t want to miss the event. It is the spirit of the sport which has bound everyone together and this element scares off any kind of fear whatsoever.
