NASA–Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer-WISE

NASA’S WISE has lifted off over the Pacific Ocean. NASA’s WISE is on its way to plot the infrared light in the entire sky. At 6.09 am PST (9.09am EST) A Delta II rocket has launched by carrying the spacecraft. It was started from Vandenberg Air Force Base, which is in California. 360 miles above the earth the rocket has deposited WISE into polar orbit.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory mission’s project manager William Irace said that WISE has lightning up the pre-dawn skies and its thunder was overheard. He also added that all the systems in WISE are good and they are on their way to see the whole infrared sky very clear than before.

Through NASA’A tracking and Data Relay System, the engineers get the signal from the special craft. They got this signal just ten seconds after the separation of the spacecraft from the rocket. Right after three minutes WISE has re-oriented to generate its own power by facing the sun with its solar panels. The next main incident happens after 17 minutes later.

WISE instrument can cool by he chambers of super-cold hydrogen ice and the valves are opened and this incident is the next major event that happens right after 17 minutes of the previous incident. The instrument helps to see the infrared, signature of the objects, heat and so on so it must kept under cool temperatures. The potential coldest detectors must less than minus 447 degrees Fahrenheit.

This time NASA’s WISE can see the colors of the infrared of the whole sky. The sensitivity and resolution are much better than the last infrared sky’s survey, which had happened 26 years ago. Once in nine months the space telescope will scan the sky after that it scan one-half the sky for second time. When WISE’S the initial mission will end up, which usually happens after ten months of the launch.

The mission catalogs wide range of astronomical targets so everything in the Universe glows in infrared. The mission can easily see the stars, Near-Earth asteroids, planet-forming disks, distance galaxies and so on. Astronomers and other space missions like NASA’A planned James Webb Space provide hundred millions of objects that populate the WISE atlas.

NASA’s WISE Mission Directorate in Washington is managed by JPL. NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt manages the Explorers Program The instrument that is been used by the mission for the task was built in Space Dynamics Laboratory, which is located in Logan, Utah. Ball Aerospace and Technology Corp. in Boulder, Colo built the spacecraft. In Inferred Processing and Analysis Center the science operations and data processing took place. Service Program of NASA’s Launch took place at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, Fla. It was managed by the launched service and the payload integration.
