Nasdaq OMX profit falls 28% in Q4

Nasdaq OMX Group Inc (NDAQ.O) reported a 28 percent drop in quarterly profit, but results edged analysts’ forecasts.

Nasdaq reported a profit of $43 million, or 20 cents a share, down from $60 million, or 28 cents, a year earlier. Excluding various one-time impairments and gains in both periods, earnings fell to 46 cents from 53 cents.

Revenue fell 8 percent to $369 million. Analysts on average expected the company to earn 45 cents per share on $365 million in revenue, according to 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters.

Shares closed at $18.80 Friday and were inactive premarket. The stock has fallen 25% in the past year.
