NATO starts Operation Moshtarak

NATO with its US-led troops has started an attack on Afghanistan, considered to be the last big hold of Taliban. The troops are a mixture of the military forces of Britain and Afghanistan besides US. The attack began on Saturday and the fighting quickly took a very violent form.

The objective of the offensive is to totally wipe out Talibans from their last frontier and make the Afghan nation terrorist free. But the first objective of the troops was to, especially the US Marines, takeover the centre of the town.

In the fierce fighting that has been going, the latest news reports suggest, that one US Marine has been injured badly. Within hours of the attack, the US troops started taking over the Marjah, in Helmand Province and are facing tough situations.

The operation has been named as Mushtarak, meaning together, as the NATO and Afghan troops fight it out together. Currently, there are 15,000 troops who are taking part in the operation.

The success or failure of the operation is expected to decide whether the Afghan government be able to work in the province with stability and peace.
