New Nintendo in March

Japanese games maker Nintendo Co. is introducing its new DSi XL hand-held video-game player in the US in March, preloaded with such titles as William Shakespeare and Mark Twain.

The device, to be launched on March 28 and to be sold at $189.99, also includes such titles as Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Brain Age Express: Math, and Photo Clock.

The DSi XL will have a screen almost double the size of the existing model, the DSi, and it offers a wider viewing angle.

The player can also be used as an electronic reader when Nintendo introduces “100 Classic Books” in June, costing $19.99. The company has said when the DSi XL was introduced in Japan in November it had a good market appeal, especially with people aged 25 and above.

The company, the largest maker of portable game players in the world, also introduced new games for the Wii and DS. They included “Super Mario Galaxy 2” and “Metroid: Other M.”
