“We are the World” saw the video of its new avatar getting launched during the opening ceremony of 2010 Winter Olympics. Made by using the songs from 1985, the video saw new faces coming and singing the old melodies.
A very contemporary look was been given to it with a host of stars coming and singing the songs using the original tunes written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
It was released on Friday with the TV launch showing a message by the original organizers of “We are the world”- Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones. In the message the two have requested the people to donate for the Haitian victims through World25.org or by SMSing.
The new version has been directed by Paul Haggis, the director of “Crash” and is called “We are the world. 25 for Haiti.” Jamie Foxx who introduced the new video has urged the people to not just watch the video and do whatever they can to promote it.
However, the people related with the industry have said that the debut of the new version was bad.
