Nexus One in Low Price for T-Mobile Customers

Google Inc. says on Friday, it is reducing price of Nexus One Smartphone by $100 for some buyers who are already subscribers to T-Mobile USA. Eligible upgrades should now be able to get the Nexus One for $279 instead of $379, and Google will give refunds to those who paid the old price.

The phone sells for $529 without wireless service. New subscribers, however, can buy the phone for $179 with a two-year contract from T-Mobile, currently the only U.S. carrier that provides a Nexus One wireless plan.

The regular price of the phone is $179 for people who sign up for a new two-year contract with T-Mobile, or $529 for people who want to use a different wireless carrier.

A Google representative said the company realized the pricing was confusing for T-Mobile subscribers who want to upgrade their phones to the Nexus One. The move might help squelch some of the criticism that has tarnished Google’s first branded phone since its launch last week.

PCWorld’s Tony Bradley writes in his news post that, “For smaller companies, there are no real hoops to jump through. You buy an Android Smartphone, you sync it with your PC, you set up your e-mail accounts to update on the device, and voila! You’re in business.”

But, can’t customers use Nexus One just for choice or having good gadget?
