Nexus One is here!

Amidst plethora of speculations and rumors, Google’s smartphone Nexus One has hit the docks. The device, which marks search giant Google’s entry into the mobile phone business, has been termed as ‘superphone’ by the company. The phone, as revealed earlier by leaked information, will be sold through Google’s website and the unlocked version will be available on T-Mobile. The phone has been priced at $529 standalone, and when bought on a contract with T-Mobile, the effective cost of the device will be $179. The phone has been developed in collaboration with HTC and runs on the Android platform.

Touting the phone Google said, “is the next stage in the evolution of Android.’ Co-developer HTC said, “”You will see it (Nexus One) pushes the limits of what is possible on a mobile phone today,” said Peter Chou, HTC chief executive.”

The phones selling strategy is termed to be a unique one and has caught many by surprise. The phone will be sold by Google itself through a dedicated web-page on the Google site, where customers can choose their own service providers also.  Other than this, the phone boasts of high-end features like a 5 mega-pixel camera, 1GHz snapdragon processor, GPS and compass, 512MB Flash memory with SD card slot (expandable to 32GB), Voice recognition can be used with all applications et.al.
