O2 launches HTC budget smartphone

O2 has announced it will be stocking the HTC Smart – a budget smartphone from Taiwanese brand.

T-Mobile, Vodafone and Orange have a number of handsets such as the HTC Tattoo or even the Orange Vegas.

The budget-conscious Smart incorporates a 300MHz processor, 256MB of memory and uses Micro SD cards for storage. The screen is a 2.8in, 240 x 320 job, and there’s a 3Mp camera on the back.

It is powered by a 1100mAh polymer battery, comes with Bluetotth, no WiFi and a microSD memory card expansion slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The HTC Smart is packing the company’s Sense UI, which gives a number of swipe-able home screens for popping different widgets on, such as weather and messaging.

HTC promises the Smart will be a stripped down smartphone that’ll be easy to use in a friendly and compact design.

Jon French, HTC’s executive director for UK & Ireland, told that the device will be available on both pre-pay and post-pay tariffs from 1 April. The tariffs have not yet been revealed however.
