Samsung and AT&T have brought the prices and dates of the smart phone in the market the Captivate. It’s an AT&T version of Samsung’s galaxy S smartphone. The phone is coming within the reach of the eager consumers on July 18th and will burn a hole of $199.99 into their pockets. But the experts have assured that the phone will be worth the wait. We are hoping that the phone will be able to add that extra bit over the other smart phones that are already present by the dozens in the market.
The part of Galaxy S will be launched with Android 2.1 and complete the package with the Samsung Hummingbird processor, a super AMOLED screen, a 5-megapixel camera that identifies landmarks provides information including the star ratings and historic information. An accelerometer and a gyroscope for 3D motion sensing, 16GB of built-in storage, HD video recording, and surround sound also is incorporated. It comes with an Amoled screen that is 16M and has a pixel count of 480 x 800 quite standing up to the rivals’ iPhone 4. And the best advantage is that the touch screen is very responsive. Out of all the applications the best around are AllShare and Layer which allows users to share multimedia files and augmented browser respectively. The home screen has short cuts to all the sites that are frequently used and can also be customized.
This will make AT&T the first largest US carrier to release a version of Galaxy S phones. The phone will require a two-year lock-in and a required AT&T voice and data plan. The Galaxy will bring the most advanced smartphone on the AT&T among the several android phones that the network has added in its profile. The smart phone got a mention in the top ten of the most advanced smart phones of the times. AT&T is for now calling it “one of the thinnest, most responsive full-featured smartphones in the industry.” With the dimensions of 64.2 mm x 122.4 mm x 9.9 mm and a weight of only 199g the designers deserve due credit for the phone.
The phone will be available on the AT&T ‘s site but is not sure that it will be available on the retail chains.
There are other phones lined up in this Galaxy S series that are lined for release and another one is coming in July itself. We have the Samsung Vibrant coming on T-mobile network and Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. Out of these two the Vibrant will come on July 21 and have the same price tag of $199.99. Details of Fascinate are not announced. Also we have Sprint bringing out Samsung Epic 4G and another coming on U.S. Cellular.
