Sony Ericsson has launched three new smartphones including the entry level 3G smartphone. The three handsets viz. , Xperia X8, Cedar, which is a basic model entry level handset for 3G and Yendo. Yendo is a full is a walkman series handset with full touch screen. All the models are expected to hit the Indian stores from September.
Xperia X8 touts a 3-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480. The smartphone incorporates a 3.2MP camera. Powered by 600MHz processor, the device runs on Android OS 1.6. The handset has multimedia features like music player with PlayNow and TrackID, Web browser, FM radio. The handset offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity and access to social networks through Timescape. The device has an internal memory of 128MB which can be expanded up to 2GB via a microSD card.
Cedar is an entry-level 3G phone introduced by Sony Ericsson. The handset has a 2.2-inch display and a 2 MP camera. The handset offers access to social networks via a feature named Widget Manager 2.0. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and offers a talk time of up to 4 hours on 3G network.
Another smartphone introduced is called Yendo. This is a phone in the walkman series and is a first full touchscreen phone. The handset features four corner touch user interface and a 2.6-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 320 X 420 pixels. The handset comes with 3.5mm jack and as for connectivity the device offers Bluetooth. Yendo has a 2 MP camera with 4X digital zoom. The handset has micro USB connector, USB mass storage and modem.
For entertainment the handset’s music feature includes FM radio, music player, walkman player, MP3/AAC tones and a Bluetooth A2DP stereo.
Sony Ericsson India Marketing head Anurag Kunto, that the company keep on offering a merger of communication and entertainment by mixing together best quality touch screen experience, in the second half of the year.
