Software giant Microsoft created quite some buzz at the Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, as it rolled out its much talked about Tablet-style computing device. The device which further blurs the line between a phone and PC was one of the most high profile launches in the show. Sounding ebullient on the launch Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer said, “It’s a beautiful little product, we’re talking about something that’s almost as portable as a phone and that’s as powerful as a PC running Windows 7.”
The product did create some buzz at the show, which has already seen Google launching its first android based smartphone the Nexus One. The tablet form Microsoft. which is yet to be named is considered to be a challenger to the to-be-launched ‘iSlate’ from Apple. The device has been developed by Microsoft along with HP, which is the hardware partner. The product is expected to hit the shelves later this year.
At the launch Microsoft’s boss also boasted about the success of its new installment of the operating system, Windows 7. Commenting on the same Ballmer said, “The biggest hit of the year was Windows 7… Windows 7 is by far the fastest selling operating system in history.”
