Toyota to shut down its UK factory for two weeks

Toyota extended to shut down its UK production plant for next month after two week shut down due to decline in the sales and another blow on the reputation of company due to the safety concerns.

Company is facing a lot of complainants ranging from unintended acceleration to brake failure and steering problems and as a measure company is recalling the production. According to company it is not only reason for recalling but linked with the same.

Company has scheduled to stop the production at the Burnaston plant in central England and the Deeside factory in Wales, Toyota’s two manufacturing sites in Britain.

According to the officials of the company, “A decision has not yet been made on whether a further workshare arrangement (short-time working) will be introduced beyond March 31. Salary review discussions are still ongoing.”

Officials of the company in Lord Mandelson’s Business Department and Lord Adonis’s Transport Department have been monitoring developments in the sales and inquiring about the company’s modifying of production processes to reflect changes announced by the parent in Japan.
