It’ is really little surprising, Twitter has announced the acquisition of Tweetie . Its author, Loren Brichta will join a startup and continue the development of software in its iPhone and iPad versions (which did not come out so far). Tweetie will also change its name to Twitter for iPhone and become free in the next weeks (it now costs € 2.39).
Note, however, conspicuously absent in the respective announcements of Twitter and Brichta , the Mac version Tweetie 2 currently in private beta and the output seemed close. Only the mobile versions of the software are mentioned.
