Twitter will introduce a new search based advertising model. This model will provide third-party advertisements in on-site search results. This report was published in the Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital-blog. According to the report the Twitter Advertising scheme will be launched in the first half of the current year.
The report also read that the adverts will be served in Twitter’s familiar 140-character packets. The ads will be posted at the Twitter searches just like Google’s original ads. But there won’t be any pictures in the regular Twitter streams. When the users search for something, it will just provide the ads of various companies or products fitting to the search.
Twitter will work with ad agencies and buyers to set off the program. Initially the advertising will be sold via agencies. Later self-serve models are to be provided. But it has been assumed that Twitter will share advertising revenues with any third-party sites who wants to display their ads.
However, Twitter is the latest sensation in the web world. After this move the big question arises, can Twitter produce a reasonable profit using its current popularity?
