Ben Roethlisberger refuses to say whether he'll return for Steelers

People have been calling for Tomlin's head ever since he arrived in Pittsburgh. Just two nights after their season ended, the Steelers are already making headlines.

Don't expect the Ravens to hold their breath, waiting for Ben Roethlisberger to announce his retirement.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said Tuesday that he hasn't decided whether he will play next year.

"To consider health, and family and things like that, and just kind of take some time away to evaluate next season, if there's going to be a next season", Roethlisberger said. "You know, injuries are always the key...the head injuries are always a big thing", he replied. Rex "Freaking" Ryan? But make no mistake: We need to keep Tomlin, because he's a successful coach and good for this city.

"You want to be able to leave this game walking out of it, and in a healthy spot". Married with three children, Roethlisberger's typical offseason reset - where he avoided significant offseason work in hopes of letting his body recover - has taken longer than when he was in his 20s.

The New England Patriots defense was supposed to face their first challenge since hosting QB Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks back in week 9.

According to a report on, Roethlisberger seemed reluctant to commit to playing with the Steelers next year. The NFL Network's Aditi Khinkabwala reported that Roethlisberger had to talk to Brown about it during the game, a fact Roethlisberger didn't deny on his radio show. But specifically regarding Roethlisberger, Tomlin's succinct answers to two subsequent questions lent credence to what he had said earlier in the session: "I think it's just football".

Reached by telephone later Tuesday, Roethlisberger didn't back down from those comments. Tonight we didn't make those plays. But I'm not alarmed or surprised by that thought process. Afterward, Roethlisberger, 34, criticized the ability of Pittsburgh's younger players to handle the pressure of the late postseason.

Other options in Rosenthal's piece include AJ McCarron, but trading with the Bengals is probably harder for the Steelers than trading with the Patriots, as well as a list of mediocre signal callers who are about to get released. It was believed that Bell was injured on his fifth carry of the game, but that has come out to not be true. However, Mike Tomlin is not one of them.

"I am aware of that [prior knowledge of injury], he did a great job of managing it". It didn't cause him to miss any practice time, let alone game time.
