Tuesday Practice at the 2017 Masters

Fans leave the course after a weather warning was issued during a practice round for the Masters golf tournament Monday, April 3, 2017, in Augusta, Ga. Danny Willett is the defending champion. But with things stable on the home front, he insists he's in a good spot as he goes for his first green jacket.

"You never know. I'm not going to sit here and say I expect to win, but a lot of the shots I feel comfortable with on the course". "I was going through a stretch with my game where it was just about as bad as it could be. Even some of my losses in the majors, I try to take the positive out of it and learn from it and do better the next time".

"I'm pleased with my preparation and hopefully I can be really firing when the opening round comes".

The more he wins, the less anyone talks about the 82 he shot in the final round of the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, the two-shot penalty he received at Whistling Straits in the 2010 PGA Championship for grounding his club in sand without realizing it was a bunker or the 12-foot eagle putt that turned into a three-putt par on the final hole of the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. So you've got to make sure that, no matter what happens, you get it over the false front. Golf just can't get out of it's own way sometimes. He tied for sixth at the SBS Tournament of Champions (Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii) and tied for sixth at the CareerBuilder Challenge (Stadium Course, La Quinta, Calif.) in January. Spieth played well earlier in the season, though, running off a top-five finish in four of his first five appearances. It's such a fun week in Napa, with all the great food and the wine. I really enjoy it there.

"No, that's not really cool", Thomas said.

It's a good thing for Rory McIlroy that he's coming in to this event under the radar a little.

While Spieth's short game and putting are usually second to none, McIlroy has been working to raise those facets of the game to a level close to his ball-striking.

Steele is No. 9 among PGA Tour FedEx Cup leaders and is 56th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

At the Safeway Open, Steele tied for fifth in driving accuracy, tied for 21st for greens hit in regulation, and tied for first in sand saves.

“I heard he had switched to a fade, and then I saw it, ” Zach Johnson said. "It's showing me that I'm going in the right direction".

To become as familiar and adjusted as possible to the course and conditions, Steele has played two practice rounds at Augusta National over the last two weeks. "There's a lot of positive stuff". The first two rounds are also expected to be cool and windy. "It gets me excited to think about it, about the possibility of winning it".

No perhaps about it, no one has played better golf this year than Dustin Johnson.

"I'm fortunate enough to have got all the excitement and hype of being at a major tournament out of the way", Gregory reflected. As he readied for his WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play clash with world No. 2 Rory McIlroy - a rematch of the 2015 championship match - Woodland got a phone call from his wife, Gabby.

Not since Zoeller's 1979 triumph has a first-time Masters player won the title. “But for me, I just felt like Ive always learned from them and tried not to do them again.
