Crosby doing it all again as Penguins close in on Cup

The altercation happened in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals, which the Pittsburgh Penguins dominated with a 6-0 score. "We know we're going to be facing a desperate team". "We've got to make sure we're the harder-working and the faster team out there".

Nashville coach Peter Laviolette was pretty unhappy about it following the game.

"A lot of times we'll go back and look at a few things that we can do better after every game on a practice day or an off day", center Colton Sissons said. Nashville was going to go into the locker room only down 2-0. We get to play at home and it's just a one-game mentality.

When the Penguins talk about "playing fast", this is what they mean. It was Crosby who sent the message - with his vision, his creativity and, oddly, his fists.

As we've seen during the Stanley Cup playoffs, Nashville loves its Predators, with some 50,000 fans gathering downtown outside Bridgestone Arena and even more to watch the games in bars and restaurants.

Evgeni Malkins says: "Believe me, they're exhausted too".

And apparently not taking any more stuff from Subban either.

Instead, Mattias Ekholm was on the ice for four goals, P.K Subban and Matt Irwin were each on for three goals, and Yannick Weber was on for two goals.

"He was doing some sort of UFC move on my foot", Crosby said.

Just ask Nashville's P.K. Subban. "I don't know what he was trying to do. I was in some kind of lock there". Both players were given minor holding penalties.

"I think it's just about going in there and playing your best game", Crosby said. However, they fought back to tie it, although Jake Guentzel's third period goal gave the Penguins a much needed win.

Kessel broke a six-game goal drought - and made Malkin's prediction Wednesday come true - when he scored from the high slot to make it 5-0 at 8:02 of the second.

Crosby was also spotted chucking a water bottle onto the ice while he was on the bench during the game.

For those seeking omens, there's this: the Penguins clinched each of their previous Cup titles on the road, winning at Minnesota in 1991, at Chicago in 1992, at Detroit in 2009 and at San Jose past year. A shot at a fifth awaits Sunday, though it'll hardly be easy.

"We were on our toes tonight", Schultz said.

Ryan Ellis - The Predators blueliner left the game early, but before he was hurt, he was stuck in his own end for much of the game (4 for, 13 against, 23.5 CF%). Pittsburgh has averaged 5.0 goals per game in its three home games, but just 1.0 goal per game on the road.

"The real hockey starts now".

After another beat down in Pittsburgh, the Preds have their backs against the wall for the first time during these Stanley Cup Playoffs. "When bounces not going your way, sometimes you question, have second thoughts in your head, but that's life".

Pittsburgh rose to the occasion in Game 6 of last year's Stanley Cup Final, tallying a 3-1 win over the San Jose Sharks as -109 road chalk to close out the series and claim its second championship since 2009. The teams combined for 100 penalty minutes (58 for Nashville, 42 for Pittsburgh).
