Arista Launches Arista 7500 Energy Efficient Model

Arista networks unveiled the Arista 7500 today. The company describes this product as a switching platform for the company which would be largely energy efficient. The product has been launched by the company in an effort to win share in the data centre networking market.

Arista Networks has completed 18 months and within this time period it has successfully built up a base of more than 300 customers for its products related to switches. Its products include a beachhead in the high frequency trading market.

The Arista 7500 that has been launched today is a modular switch. It has the ability to provide around 10 terabits of switching capacity per second as well as 384 wire speeds.  Apart from this, 10 Gigabit Ethernet Ports in 11 rack units is also the available feature of this switching platform.

This platform can support the transitions from 1 Gigabit Ethernet to 10 Gigabit. The company however has an eye towards the future support for 40 as well as 100 Gigabit Ethernet.

This new series would run on Arista’s Extensible Operating System. It is available at $140,000 and the company claims that the price can work out to less than $1,200 per wire speed port.

In stead of the side to side airflow design, Arista has used a front to back airflow design. This was the key to the improved energy efficiency as claimed by vice president of marketing at Arista, Mr. Doug Gourlay. This switching platform also features a power supply with energy efficiency of almost 93%.
