Decline in the Dollar for Videogame Hardware

The average prices for the video game console hardware were down to around 16% in the entire United States. It is because of this that significant revenue was under pressure. This was a report given by NPD analyst Anita Frazier and this was in deed the major reason because of which there is a decline in the dollar of the hardware of the video game.

There are reasons because of which months after the video game industry can give a smile. The video games business actually in March saw an increase of 6% year over year and consequently it turned in the third best non-holiday period month.

In January and February, the sales of the video game industry had been down to 13% and 14%. However, the revenues in the hardware of the videogames took a hit in March. The software and the accessories were up in March.

The sales in hardware were actually dominated by Nintendo. Its Wii console sold around 557,500 units in the month of March. On the other hand, the Xbox from Microsoft and Play Station 3 from Sony succeeded to sell around 338,400 units and 313,900 units respectively. A total unit of 700,000 units were sold by Nintendo’s suite of DS which is a handheld gaming machine.

Following all these figures, it is indeed hard to say how the video game industry performed in March. There is a little doubt over the gains of the revenue especially when the sales of software surpass those of the hardware
