Google Clarifies on Demands Of Government Agencies

Google Clarifies on Demands Of Government Agencies – Google in a new site sheds more light into the demands made by the government for information of user as well as requests made by the government regarding the pulling out of offensive materials from the web.

The company claims that like any other companies of technology and communication, Google keeps on receiving requests from various sources all around the world to remove the content from their services. At times requests are also made to give the information about the users of the services of Google.

According to a newly released data, the Google owned YouTube received more than 10,000 requests from the government agencies for the user data. This was claimed by the company itself.

The information about the users is generally asked by the government agencies regarding the investigation of some criminal cases. Google in one of its blogs claimed on Tuesday that historically the data of all these activities has not been available broadly. According to the company, greater transparency might lead to lesser censorship.

Brazil has sent the maximum requests to remove the content which has been followed by Germany, India, and USA and so on. Google successfully complied with almost 80% of the requests related to the removal of the content.

Google also says that the company would like to share more information in a response to these innumerable requests. However, that is not too easy according to the company because requests come from several government agencies. All of these have different legal authorities and different forms of requests. Irrespective of that, the company is trying its best to look into the requests of the government.
