Henry Edward Roberts, creator of the Altair 8800 died today

The man who created the Altair 8800, considered the first personal computer, died on Thursday at a hospital in Macon, in the U.S. state of Georgia. According to UPI, Roberts was suffering from pneumonia.

The Altair was created in 8800 that Henry Roberts founded the company in 1970, Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems, inspiring to Microsft’s founders, Bill Gates and Paul Allen.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of our friend and mentor Ed Roberts, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” reads a statement signed by Gates and Allen, quoted by website specializing PCMAG.com.
