HP introduced today the first multi touch-enabled tablet as well as notebook PCs. HP Elite Book 2740p a new 12.1-inch convertible tablet is an ultra-thin, multi touch-enabled convertible tablet which will provide an exciting experience in health care, education, sales and more other businesses who feels the need of a pen.
EliteBook 2740p tablet PC will be available in stainless steel finish and magnesium casing with either a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, a reinforced glass screen and a touch interface that will also work with an included pen.
The touch screen option allows users to get work done more easily and faster based on their choice of input methods.
HP may bring touch screens to its ProBook and EliteBook business laptops once enterprises get a closer look at touch technology, HP officials said.
Many end users want the performance of a desktop like a notebook. They demands a low-voltage or ultra-low-voltage processors from Intel or Advanced Micro Devices.
Customer can use standard Core i5 and i7 processors from Intel if they configure the machines appropriately so the peripherals don’t cause the machines to overheat.

A second EliteBook with a conventional 12-inch display, the 2540p, is also joining the lineup, available with either a standard-voltage Core i5 or i7 CPU and 7200rpm hard drive, or a low-voltage Core i7 processor with optional room for an internal optical drive or second hard drive. it is considered the lightest Elite Book.
This innovative expansion base includes a DVD+/-RW drive. It can easily carry into a briefcase so that optical drive can easily traveled and due to supports Display Port users can easily connect to an external monitor.
The EliteBook 2740p and 2540p provide a preloaded trial version of HP SkyRoom,(6) an affordable, high-definition (HD) videoconferencing software(7) which offers live, real-time collaboration for face-to-face meetings.
The HP EliteBook 2740p offers verious battery solutions for lightweight configurations, including a six-cell li-ion prismatic battery to provide up to 5.0 hrs. up time and an optional HP 2700 Ultra-Slim Battery that provides up to 11 hours when combined with the standard battery.
The starting price for the EliteBook 2740p is $1,599 & as expected it will be available till April 2010. in market.
