Adding to its line of products, Intel, on Thursday unleashed more than two dozen new products, most of them for its Core family, during the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show. The line of product includes i3, i5, and i7 chips. Part of its 32-nanometer family of processors, the company has also launched Intel 5 Series chipsets, and Intel Centrino Wi-Fi and Wimax adapters. Four Core i3, eight i5, and five i7 chips have been introduced.
These lines of products, as was understood from the words of Intel’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Otellini would suffice the needs of the increasingly mobile generation. The products he said are no longer confined to the PC segment and would be catering to the needs of the mobile industry. “These advances are bringing us into a new era of computing where we have many devices per person and computing is increasingly [integrated].We’re focused on making all computing personal,” Otellini said during a keynote address. The new Core chips are based on Intel’s Arrandale and Clarkdale technology. They are the first 32nm processors from the company’s stable. The chips use Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology for multitasking and have been designed for desktops, mobile computing and integrated devices.
The entry level i3 Core processors provide HD graphics but lack Turbo Boost technology while the i5 and i7 Core processors have the technology to automatically accelerate performance. However, all of them will have Hyper Threading facility to allow each processing core to run multiple threads.
The Intel 5 Series, which is its first single-chip chipset, is based on ‘Hurry Up and Get Idle’ principal for saving power. Intel Wireless Display is for streamlining high-definition video from your PC to the TV. The new adapters include 802.11n multi-streaming capabilities and dual-band support for Wi-Fi.
The products are to be manufactured in 2010.
