Motorola Devour on Verizon – Motorola added Devour in Google’s Android OS line. Motorola on Wednesday officially announced the Devour, a Google Android-based handset with its Motoblur services suite for Verizon.
The Devour has a 3.1-inch, 320-by-480 pixel touchscreen. The resolution is comparable to the iPhone but lower than the Droid, which boasts a 3.7-inch, 480-by-854 pixel display.
Motoblur includes a “happenings” widget on the home screen that consistently monitors networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace and integrates updates, e-mails, and texts into a “universal inbox.”
Devour’s processor have yet to be revealed, the phone is expected to be more of a midrange Android option compared to Droid’s higher-end status. It’s rumored to run on the Qualcomm 600-MHz MSM7627.
Others have speculated that Verizon is reserving the Droid name for high-end, marquee devices, and that the Devour will be relegated to the lower-end of the market, with a price tag to match.
Customers will need a nationwide talk or nationwide talk and text plan, plus a data package for smartphones from Verizon. Nationwide talk starts at $39.99 per month, while nationwide talk and text starts at $59.99. Data for smartphones starts at $29.99 for unlimited monthly access.
