Sony advised not to use of old PS3 while repairing a fault

Japanese electronics maker Sony on Monday called for owners of older models of its PlayStation 3 game console not to use them, while repairing a fault detected on Sunday in several countries.

“We hope to resolve this issue in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, if you have a model that is not the new slimmer PS3 (launched in 2009), we advise not to use your PS3 system,” said Sony’s director of communications, Patrick Seybold, in a post on the blog, for U.S. users of the PS3.

Otherwise, he warned, players are set to “errors in some functions, such as registration of trophies obtained, since some data can not be recovered.

A similar message was available in the blog for European users of the PS3.Hundreds of users of PlayStation 3 consoles on Monday protested the blog official manufacturer against a fault that prevents them from playing Sunday.

According to Sony, the problem is due to a defect in the internal clock of the console.
Among other problems, according to Sony, the date of the console can be changed only by 1 January 2000, so the players cannot connect to games online or start some games, and deletes the “trophies” won previously.
