Sony launches first 3D T.V. set in June,10

It’s confirmed. Sony will launch its first 3D television set, named Bravia HX803, in June 2010 complete with a number of 3D games for the PlayStation 3 gaming console.

The launch will also be accompanied by a number of 3D peripherals and other models, including the HX903 and the LX903 will follow shortly. The prices of the HX803 – which will come with 40-inch and 46-inch diagonals – have yet to be disclosed.

BRAVIA HX803 will be the Company’s first 3D television set to be launched in the UK market. The product uses active glasses technology and support 1080p HD 3D pictures and up-converts standard pictures into 3D.

It also has the Bravia Engine 3 which promises optimal contrast and “truer-to-life” colour tones.

Though use of active 3D technology in Bravia will cause  customer forking out more money for the rather expensive 3D active glasses, the 3D quality will be undoubtedly better compared to other passive models.

There are more interesting features include the fact that HX803 is Wi-Fi Ready that is users  just need to add in a wireless adaptor or USB dongle and incorporate Bravia internet video capabilities which means users will be able to stream content directly from online service providers.

A leading manufacturers of electronics, communications, video game consoles,  and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets, Sony has also announced its plans to film 25 games from the World Cup (including the final) in 3D under a right deal with football world governing body FIFA. The viewers will also get to see running promotional trailers featuring 3D highlights from the matches at Sony-affiliated stores around the UK.

And later in the year, Sony Pictures will release an official 3D FIFA World Cup compilation film on 3D Blu-ray disc.
