WAC to revolutionize the world

A question left answered with a desire,’ what if’- what if all the mobile majors come under one roof and have their own application store? Or what if the neck rivals work in cohesion? These and many more questions were answered at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) when announced the formation of Wholesale Application Community WAC, a forum intending to provide developers with one-stop access to the market. It will be a channel for the developers to bring out their discoveries and innovations directly to the end-users.

The forum included telecom biggies like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Deutsche Telekom, and Orange. Cellular manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson have also issued their support. Other players who joined in are America Movil; Bharti Airtel; China Mobile; China Unicom; KT; mobilkom austria group; MTN Group, NTT DoCoMo; Orascom Telecom; Softbank Mobile; Telecom Italia; Telenor Group; TeliaSonera; SingTel; SK Telecom; VimpelCom; Vodafone; and Wind.

It shall form a conglomerate which will take support of Joint Innovation Lab (JIL) and BONDI, a relatively new software initiative to have a normal way to access the web apps on the phone. Also, latter to this GSMA will be joining hands with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). With steadfast progress in hand it seems to be a platform which not only will give an access to the developers to display their potential across the globe but also prove to be an ease for users. It is believed that it will be a profit making venture as the current user base of apps is going to see an increase of 3 billion.
